How Often Should a Pool be Serviced?

Get the most enjoyment from your pool by keeping it clean all year. This means you will need weekly and monthly pool service. It is recommended that you have your pool cleaned at least once a week to keep it clean and keep the water safe from contamination. More in-depth pool service is needed on a regular monthly basis.

WEEKLY

• Skim leaves, insect, and debris using a long-handled leaf skimmer
• Brush pool walls and fixtures to remove dirt and prevent the spread of algae
• Clean the skimmer allows it to operate the most efficiently
• Run your pump long enough each day to make sure the water is properly filtered
• Test pool water and add chemicals, as needed, following manufacturer’s directions

MONTHLY

• Vacuum the swimming pool to collect anything that has floated to the bottom
• Clean and maintain your swimming pool filter
• Inspect your pool pump for any issues such as leaks or strange noises
• Inspect the pool surfaces for cracks and immediately repair
• If you have a saltwater pool, test and adjust the salinity level
• If you are using chlorine to sanitize your pool, test and adjust your stabilizer level
